Sounds counter-intuitive, doesn’t it? An online purchase that actually halts cyber malfeasance.

For sure, tis’ the season to be on high alert when making online credit card transactions. But there’s a purchasing strategy that actually helps to protect children online. Like what?

It’s always exciting when I meet folks whose efforts translate into a safer world for kids. My friend and colleague Donna Rice Hughes is one of those folks. Donna relentlessly advocates for our kids’ online safety through her organization Enough is Enough (EIE). Recently, Donna reported that the Senate Commerce Committee approved the amendment of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) to help stop human trafficking and give victims legal recourse against those who have profited from their suffering and abuse. Since many victims are targeted online, the proposed SESTA (Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act) has the potential to significantly halt the online sex trafficking business.

You can do a world of good this season by purchasing in the following ways:

  • Go to and save on holiday purchases that include a 10% donation to EIE.
  • For all you Amazon junkies, when you shop using EIE’s Amazon Smile, you’ll also be giving back a percentage of your purchases to help EIE defend children in the digital world.

Finally, PLEASE help make certain that the SESTA legislation passes the Senate vote by signing this letter.
